Here are my recommendations for genealogy resources to help you with your search for your UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) based ancestors.

The National Archives

The National Archives (previously known as the public records office) is based in Kew, near London.

Address:

The National Archives
Kew, Richmond
Surrey TW9 4DU

An excellent book “The National Archives” by Stella Colwell gives you insider information on how to make the most of your visit.

The website does contain a lot of different resources however some is only available in person.

Some particular recommendations:

Cyndi’s List has thousands of links to help research UK and Ireland based ancestors.
