Personalised Genealogy Tours

Prior to you coming to the UK, we’ll have a discussion (via phone or email) to decide exactly where you would like to visit and what your priorities are. Which ancestors you would like to find out more about and where they lived/worked/are buried etc.  I will do some research and suggest a route.

A tour can be self guided based on research done for you. Alternatively, if the tour is local to me in Kent, Sussex or London I will arrange to collect you from where you are staying or meet at the first place of interest. We will then take a tour of the places you would like to visit. Depending upon the length of the tour, we will stop and have lunch in a local pub/restaurant. If desired we will continue exploring after lunch. This can be done as a half day tour or a full day tour. It’s up to you. I will also take photographs of you along the way. I will provide a personalised itinerary document which we can add photographs to so that you have a record of the experience.

We will go into local graveyards, visit churches, visit local records centres as appropriate. We will also look at places where your ancestors lived or worked.

Wear comfortable shoes as we may be in places with uneven surfaces and there may be quite a lot of walking involved. Bring some water. Bring your camera and a notebook.

Another thing to bear in mind is the time of year you are visiting the UK. The days get very short in winter, daylight hours are between around 9am and 3pm and the weather can be very variable. The best times to visit are in the spring and autumn (fall).
